The Jordaan was Orangist. De Willemsstraat was called after King William I. King William III and Queen Wilhelmina loved to visit the Willemsstraat when they were at Amsterdam. In this Orangist street the decision was made to give Queen Wilhemina a Golden Carriage at her coronation in 1998.
