Under the bridge called Torensluis are cellars that were part of the in 1829 demolished tower called Jan Roodenpoortstoren. The top of the tower was made by Hendrick de Keyser.

The lighter painted stones in the road show the contours of the former tower called Jan Roodenpoortstoren, a tower that used to be a part of the medieval defence wall of the City Centre of Amsterdam.
